He meets a beautiful blond girl, but encounters a gang of bullies who make his life a living hell. This further dampens Daniel's spirit as he just wants to go home. He is continually bullied and is afraid to show his face around the high school. He then meets mentor/handyman Mr. Miyagi who takes the naive Daniel under his wing and shows him that Karate and life aren't all about power and strength. It's something deep within you're soul that makes you what you are. Daniel is the underdog and faces the biggest challenge of his life. WIN and he can rejoice forever knowing he beat the bullies. LOSE? They'll never let him forget it!!

Came here after finish watching cobra kai waiting for s3 to come out HAHA. Lol everybody blaming Daniel Larusso for messing with Ali, when she is always coming over to him, letting him buy her lunch, flirting with him and wanting to hang out. He even asked How over is 'over' when she mentioned it was over between her and Johnny.

This is a great scene, probably the best in the whole film. Here's why: Immediately before this, Daniel and Kumiko get a glimpse of how advanced Chozen's karate skills are when they peer into the window of his dojo. This, combined with Chozen's already hostile attitude towards Daniel, makes him extremely threatening. They walk the streets talking in a lighthearted manner, but then they enter the bar at Daniel's bidding where everything gets loud and energetic, with high tempo music, gambling, and the camaraderie of off-duty US soldiers smoking and drinking. Daniel is called out for his rash judgment and challenged to break the ice, only for Chozen to immediately enter the scene and heighten the tension dramatically by demanding that Daniel comply. Kumiko appears to abandon Daniel, who is outnumbered and overpowered by the bar patrons, now spearheaded by Chozen. It appears that Daniel is destined for either public humiliation through failure or a beating by Chozen for backing down after being so brash. But Miyagi enters, and everyone expects Miyagi to get Daniel out of this situation he cornered himself into, but Miyagi betrays Daniel's expectations by forcing him to follow through with it. Daniel has never done anything like this before, so it really was a shock, both to himself and vicariously to the audience. Miyagi throws down a large bet, and just when it appears Chozen can't match his wager, Sato enters like a (literal) boss to back him. The music at this point matches the tension that had been rising since the scene began, and there is now no way out. Miyagi reminds Daniel of the simple power of focusing his mind and energy, and Daniel finally acquiesces to the challenge that he started in the first place. When Sato sees Daniel performing the breathing technique, he recalls his own training by Miyagi's father and gains a certain respect for Daniel, who is carrying on the tradition of Miyagi-do in a way that Chozen, through his lack of honor, does not. After Daniel breaks the ice, Chozen, like a sore loser, is reeling from his loss and doesn't want to concede his money, but Sato, who is all about honor, reprimands him for embarrassing him, and remains silent after Miyagi boastfully thanks him for his money. Miyagi's wisdom is shown once again, for nobody thought Daniel could do it except him, and he walks out with all the money, his foe humbled, and his student's confidence through the roof.

And now, for some other sad but true facts that seperate this film from reality. br> First of all, Daniel LaRusso can't be as big of a pussy as he is made out to be. Newark, New Jersey is a pretty tough town to grow up in and someone as light on their feet as Danny Boy couldn't possibly survive 16 years of growing up there, could he? And even so, why would he travel almost 3000 miles to sunny, laid-back southern California to get his ass kicked by Johnny? Are the Kobra-Kai bigger and badder than oh say the Latin Kings? Well hmmm. oh wait! I forgot that Daniel-san is Italian and being Italian AND from New jersey has to have some perks. What if. Daniel(whose father was never said other hmmmm) was connected to a godfather who had people that could "take care" of Johnny, Dutch, Bobby, Kreese and the rest of the nasty Kobra-Kais?
What if the character of Myagi was substituted by "Maggio" portrayed by Anthony Quinn or Tony Curtis) a maintance man who was secretly hiding under his Federal Witness protection. Instead of "The Crane" he shows Daniel how to pistol-whip, make car bombs and mix cement. Instead of an old Packard, Maggio gives Daniel his very own hoop ride; a 1977 El Dorado convertable that Daniel had to wax with melted wax from a wheel of fontina.

After watching Cobra Kai, and seeing Johnny's side of the story, I rewatched Karate Kid 1, 2, and 3. I was like Wow, Daniel is a total asshole. From that day on: Daniel gambled his way into college. Cobra Kai brought me here, rest in peace Tommy. After Johnny kicks Daniel at 2:19 you can hear Dutch say Man, I can feel that all the way over here! Awsome.

When I seen this movie I wanted to learn Karate my cousin said he would teach me had me doing techniques like Wash The Dishes. Cut The Grass. and my favorite Take Out The Trash. Didnt learn shit. I have just realised that the description reads: The sequel to the first one. After I watched cobra Kai I now can see how Jonny wasent that bad. Daniel was a little pain in the was.
